weekly photo challenge: endurance

Posted on

Endurance is the weekly photo challenge prompt. How utterly fitting for us at the moment as we are on the Camino! We have about 520km or so til our destination!!

We need to keep at it despite the weather conditions; walking in wind, sun and rain.

Endurance will get us there 🙂

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I don’t know how you managed to keep up with your blogging while on the Camino. I’ve been busy here at home and I’ve let it become an excuse for not reading other people’s posts as much as I should (sorry… I’m catching up now and loving your photos… they make me wish I’d been there with you!). Blogging in the evenings when you must have been exhausted… Now that’s endurance!

Blogging is rather therapeutic – it is an opportunity for us to download “literally” our thoughts and experiences. Most people on the Camino would sit down and write in their diaries while we blogged instead on our virtual Camino diaries (over at “Sees the Day”) and on this blog when we could. We were definitely exhausted but keeping it up would be a lot better than trying to catch up later to preserve the memories 🙂
Thanks so much for checking out our posts – can’t believe we will be home in about 4 days and will have plenty of other Europe stuff to post too. We have plenty of catch up there to do 🙂

Wow. thats super cool photo. I am sure your commitment and endurance will pay off and you will kiss your destination soon. BTW, where are you all heading to – which city or country or place? Just curious 🙂

265 kms -that sure takes a lot of endurance. The vineyards seem inviting enough to start off. Keep going. You are my inspiration for my morning walk tomorrow. 🙂

That glorious view should be enough encouragement to keep on walking. I’d be wanting to find out what was around the next corner every day. Well done.

Yes – it does keep us going. Sometimes as we HOPE the next corner is a “downhill” or a town… it is just another hill – hehehe – But it’s all in the name of experience!

Looking wet. Have you mentioned how many people are actually doing this walk?

      wisemonkeysabroad responded:
      September 20, 2014 at 4:58 am

There are many pilgrims!! Each year, there are approximately 100,000 pilgrims but you can start and finish at any stage you wish. We would only be guessing but we easily see at least the same 30 throughout the day and plus all the others who are way ahead or far behind that we don’t ever get to see. There would be somewhere above 100 a day we reckon leaving St Jean Pied de Port (which is the “common” starting point for the walk) around the same time as us. Depending on the season obviously there would be lots more or less!
If you are asking specifically, how many people are walking with us? We are not walking in a group, it’s just us. Most people tend to walk this solo or in pairs, or smallish friendship groups! It’s a haven for meeting people and people tend to then walk stages together.
Hope that answers what you are asking 🙂

Wow mammoth effort!! How far have you walked so far? Definitely deserve a good massage and soak in a bath (or hot springs if there’s one) after you’re finished!

      wisemonkeysabroad responded:
      September 20, 2014 at 4:50 am

Nope, no hot springs 😦 But definitely a good soak in the bath! We have walked about 265 km so far! Still a way away 🙂
