weekly photo challenge: window

Posted on Updated on

Happy New Year! We have only just returned from 10 days away in Tasmania (posts to follow about that trip).

A tricky challenge set this week by Cheri Lucas Rowlands at The Daily Post.

Here is our entry, a photo we took when we were travelling the Romantic Road in Germany!

The Rothenburg Clock Tower – there is a window on either side of the clock that opens on the hour between 11 am and 3 pm and then at 8pm to 10 pm. Inside the window, you see the legend of the town mayor ย who drank a LOT of wine as a challenge to save the town from war in 1631!

Nice! I met Rich & Sue in Germany. Rothenburg was one of the first places we ever visited together!

Yeah it really does. Did you try a ‘snowball’ while you were there?

No we didn’t ๐Ÿ˜ฆ but it’s a mighty fine excuse for us to have to go back!

I too have stood and looked up at that tower. It was the first such tower/glockenspiel that I had seen in Germany. Specially nice memory as it was around christmas time 2 years ago. Excellent interpretation of the window theme..

It’s been over 10 years since I first visited Rothenburg, but I still have a solid memory of waiting in the town square to watch the famous clock in action. Thanks for reminding me!

Thank you for stopping by! It will be 8 years in September for us. And we can still recall standing there waiting too.

Hey guys, that is quite unique isn’t it?! I like the story behind it too.

Hope you had a great time down in Tassie recently.

Looking forward to reading your posts about it! Have a great weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you! Yes, the tale is intriguing. Thought we would through in a quick “history” lesson with the photo this week ๐Ÿ˜‰

We only flew in yesterday afternoon! Tassie was windy and cold but we still had a blast. Lots of crazy family antics to write up about!

Hope you enjoy your weekend too ๐Ÿ™‚
