weekly photo challenge: angular

Posted on

As with most ancient civilisation architecture, Machu Picchu looks cleverly planned and constructed. And there are plenty of angles here!

When we see these ancient structures, we can’t help but wonder of the skills and talents of the communities and also the precision at which they built these places. It always fascinates us!

How goes the travels? You are still one of my favorite blogs and I’m sad I am not able to keep up with every post. I’ve got one foot in the working world and one foot in the travel lifestyle. Trying to find balance. Miss you.

Hi Jess. We are back to reality too now after our 4 months. Trying to get back into the swing of things but with Xmas and a whole bunch of other things, we feel just as hectic as you do, no doubt 🙂
      Good to hear from you!

I always find it amazing how talented these ancient civilizations were. They somehow had great mathematical abilities. Wonder if this angular town is a mirror image of anything in the sky? Just my curious mind.

Yes!!! Similar things always cross our minds too – the ancient civilisations really utilised the night sky as a guide … So you just never know 🙂

I like your choice of this place for the challenge. It does have a lot of angles. It’s also one of the most inspiring places I’ve ever been to. I was very lucky to visit Macchu Picchu while I was in school. I’ll never forget the feelings it inspired in me. The experience was really intense. I’ll never forget it. Thanks for reminding me. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your memories and experiences with us! We are glad to have conjured fond memories for you!

Machu Picchu, and other ancient cities of Inca and Mayan design, are excellent subjects for angular. Good job. Machu Picchu, BTW, is one of Peggy’s all time favorite sites. I have yet to be there. –Curt

Once again a wonderful picture. I think I am too infected with The show ‘ancient aliens’ as this pictures reminded me immediately on those crazy alien conspiricies (is it even written likes this?)

Ahhh…. yes, it does make you wonder if there was outer space influence in building such structures 🙂 Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Brilliant shot for this week’s challenge. It also fascinates me that Macchu Pichu was built with hands and manual labour. The road up to this town looks so steep. Back in those days everyone must have strong legs.

Hope your weekend’s going well, Monkeys. Enjoy and relax ^^’

      wisemonkeysabroad responded:
      November 23, 2014 at 10:57 am

Yes!! The strength of the people to have used bare hands and backs to move and carry and lift. Not only are the sides steep, but the size of the rocks makes us feel so small and insignificant!

Thanks Jill! It was on ours for ages too and when we were there, we were literally pinching ourselves to see if it was real. When we stood at that viewpoint and was covered in clouds, we were a little disappointed. Then like a magical unveiling, the clouds parted and we were just graced with a view we could ONLY imagine 🙂
We hope you do get to visit it one day!
