travel memories on our tree
Christmas is almost upon us and it is one of our favourite times of the year. So to continue with the spirit, we are sharing an old post of ours about the decorations on our trees – ornaments from the places we have travelled π Although, this is an old post, we have updated it to also share some of the newer additions!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year folks π
We LOVE this time of year because we LOVE Christmas! Itβs 2 weeks from Christmas and our tree is now up β yes it is an artificial one π
Our humble Christmas tree that may need to be upgraded if we get more ornaments
As we added the different ornaments, we began reminiscing about our travels because some of our decoration are our βsouvenirsβ from our travels. It was only back in 2009, while we are at the Empire State Building did we think it would be a good tradition to start.
And since then, we have added several more to our tree. Itβs not always easy to find Christmas ornaments, as it can depend not only the time of year but also the place you visit. But these are not the only things we pick up as our souvenirs π

I just posted a Gypsy Christmas Tree today with a tree loaded with my travel ornaments from this side of the world. I have never been lucky enough to go abroad, but still have hope to do that someday. But I do enjoy decorating my tree.

We love Christmas too! And I love the idea of finding different ornaments related to your travelling experiences. We do something similar for my parents by finding fridge magnets! Which are a lot easier! Have a wonderfully xmas both, and a very happy new year. Looking forward to more adventures in 2015! π

Love the Empire State Building ornament! We have a yellow NYC taxi cab π I love collecting ornaments when we travel. We have an elephant from Cambodia, a viking from Estonia, and decorative ornaments from Greece, Latvia, Hungary, China and Vietnam. Hanging them on the tree is a fun reminder of all the amazing places we’ve been. Happy collecting!

Thanks Heather π We hope we can add more as we only did start collecting officially only 4 years ago so we don’t have many yet.
But it is so exciting to hear so many others doing the same… what we would also like: is to see them? Have you any posts or photos of them that you can share?
And we totally agree – putting up the tree is now EXTRA EXTRA fun π
Happy Christmas and 2015 to you!

We always buy a tree ornament on our travels too. Some are lovely. When we were in Bruge we found a Christmas shop which had really funky glass frogs dressed as Santa and we thought one would be pretty cool on our tree, until we saw the price tag – 20 euro! I was worried we wouldn’t get it home in one piece so we didn’t buy any. Our newest ornament is a little Kokeshi from Asakusa in Tokyo. It’s always nice to reminisce when decorating the tree every year.

Ooooh! We would LOVE to see a photo of your Xmas tree – all decked out in travel ornaments too π We have to agree – the trip this year meant we had to be a bit more conservative with cost, shapes and fragility of our choices. Having to either cart them around for the 4 months or post them home meant we didn’t want to spend too much in case they either went missing or broke.
And 20 Euro for an ornament?? We would have put that one back too.
We love hanging each ornament and remembering our time there and even more exciting – adding the new ones is also extra fun π

My wish for all of us is that we are able to collect some more in 2015! Happy Christmas to you both.
