weekly photo challenge: depth

Posted on

Depth can be the distance between the front to the end of something…

So we are showing the depth of a trdelnik – a sweet pastry made from rolled dough, wrapped around a stick, grilled and then covered with sugar/cinnamon.

We had one of these every day when we were in Czech Republic. YUM!

Have you ever had one of these before?

How has everyone interpreted depth? Check it out here.

Great photo. Have only heard about the deliciousness of the trdelnik and look forward to giving one a try. Is the taste similar to country fair funnel cake?

We’ve only had funnel cake once and we don’t recall it tasting the same. Hmmm… trying to think about how best to describe the taste. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft. Similar to maybe a really really thin donut but with a “crunch” on the outside. But it’s not oily because it’s not deep-fried.
Don’t think we are describing it very well, so we hope one day you get to taste it 🙂

This is great, I love that it’s a humorous response to the prompt, as it’s naturally caused most to think of taking very emotive and emotional photos, but this is such a different take it stands out. Plus it’s making me very hungry 🙂

Hahaha – YES we did take a bite… can you tell? 😉 After we bit into it, we thought we better take a photo for memories sake. Then as we positioned it, the taxi drove into view!!

Fabulously creative idea for this theme! Can you believe even though I have such a sweet tooth, I only found out about Trdelnik last year meaning that when I was in Prague many years ago, I totally missed out on trying these 😦 Looks so good!!

      wisemonkeysabroad responded:
      February 1, 2015 at 6:57 pm

Noooooooo!! You missed out on trying these for all those years 😉 Oh, well better late than never. Now is the time to make up for it. We discovered these in Budapest in 2006, and then found some guys here who had a stall here at a local market! We came back almost every week to get them…. until we thought that was a little overkill. Then when we were in Czech Republic again in 2014… we overdosed on them 😉

      wisemonkeysabroad responded:
      February 1, 2015 at 6:48 pm

Hahaahah…. we have no idea. We always said, “Can we have one of those?” And pointed at it. LOL! Every time we look at the word, we think “tradelink” spelled wrong 😉

This is a super shot. So fun to see you positioned it so the taxi was in focus too 😀 I’ve never had one of these things in my life, but it sounds delicious, like it tastes like a doughnut. It looks quite small, and I think I could eat five in one go 😉

      wisemonkeysabroad responded:
      February 1, 2015 at 6:55 pm

Heya Mabel. How are you? These are soooo yummy! They are not as dense as a doughnut and they are crispy… Hmmm… we want some now! If you have Kurtosh in Melbourne… that is where you can buy these. Not AS good as the ones we have tried overseas but still tasty enough to try and to fill the void for us 😉

PS – that taxi thing was just timing. We were surprised at the outcome of this picture. Timing is everything, isn’t it?

Hope you are having a happy weekend!

The last two times I had Krispy Kremes were big disappointments. Got them from the city and the doughnuts weren’t soft, a bit hard in fact :/ I now prefer buying my doughnuts from a place called Short Stop. They sell cake doughnuts ^^’

            February 5, 2015 at 8:15 am

Totally, Krispy Kreme was “exciting” when it came to Sydney 10 years ago and then the excitement wore off pretty quickly….. YUM! We better add that place to our list when we are next in Melbourne 🙂
