weekend walks: vivid sydney
And so another weekend is behind us! We chose an evening walk this week, especially with the weather being warm to say the least and with Vivid Sydney being on.
Vivid Sydney is a display of lights around the city (see the Vivid Sydney website for more info: http://www.vividsydney.com)
We would say the biggest drawcard is the light art on the Opera House. We could just stand there and watch it all night 🙂 But we didn’t, we walked around the Rocks for about 2 hours, soaking up the atmosphere and taking photos (if we had thought to bring a tripod, the photo quality may have been better).

Such amazing photos. I love it around The Rocks and am very jealous the lights weren’t there when I lived in Sydney.

Thanks – it was the first time we have been and its been running for a few years now. When did you live in Sydney?

Simply stunnning! The cherry blossoms and the Opera House with butterflies are beautiful! We were hoping to get down to it, but can’t make it this year. So thanks for taking us there! CC

Very impressive!! More fun than fireworks.
Must be an exciting job to create the art programs for the light sequences at the Opera House!

Hi Jane,
Hope you have been well!
Yes, it would be a pretty exciting job to be involved with this 🙂

Yes, all is well here. We were camping on the coast for just shy of a week without cellphone or on-demand wifi.
Actually, a great change! But now there are tons of photos to play with 😉

Wow – we would love to experience camping one day!! Can’t wait to see your photos 🙂 No wi-fi is a good way to disconnect 🙂

Hi Louise! We were so happy that we decided to go last minute as it really was spectacular! Just watching the show and different transitions of light was so unique and enjoyable 🙂

I was in Sydney last year for Vivid and it was great. The atmosphere and community spirit was so infectious and the light shows were fantastic. I just said to my husband the other night when the festival was on the news that we should go to see it one year. I posted photos last year but I think yours are better. I could have done with a tripod too.

Considering that it is autumn, the night felt like a spring night! It was just lovely to walk around with the ‘community spirit’ – definitely a good choice of words you used!
Thank you so much for your compliment about our photos!
Hope you had a great weekend!

I did, thanks, and the weather has been just as beautiful here as it was in Sydney. I would like it if Winter stayed like this…but that’s just wishful thinking.

Just so awesome these pictures are! Beautifully captured.

Thanks Mia!!! It was quite a delightful thing to see! We are glad we were able to (kind of) catch the essence of what we saw 🙂
Hope your weekend was awesome!

thanks for hearing the photos from the evening walk – looks like an ART WALK to me – so nice. 🙂
May 26, 2014 at 5:27 pm

The lights on the Opera House are simply stunning. They do something similar on the Seoul Museum of Art here, and it always amazes me what they’re able to come up with, and how they can so totally transform something just with light!!

Yeh, we were so transfixed! It is just so clever and creative!

Oh my God, so beautiful. This is one reason why sometimes i don’t feel like to see the other travel photos in blog because something like this, something that i missed while i was there, and i feel like “ah, i have to back to that place to see something like this’, while i have to save my money for the other trips. 😀 😀
May 26, 2014 at 10:45 am
Totally get what you are saying! We are the same! Sometimes we see things on other blogs and we realise we missed a gem! 🙂
Hope you had a great weekend!
