A bucket list is a list of things you want to do before you die. Pretty sure most people have a “list” either official or unofficial. We don’t have an official list per se but we do have a list for places we would like to see on our travels and a list that we call the retrospective bucket list.
The UNESCO Heritage List is our unofficial travel bucket list. Realistically, we know that we will not go to all these places. But we do hope we can cross off as many as we can in our lifetime. And being fully aware this list will keep growing, it’s a challenge we have set ourselves. However, this does not mean that we base our holidays solely to tick off what’s on this list but consider it a bonus if we can!
Here, you will be able to see our favourite photograph of each heritage listing we have visited. They are listed based on the order in which they were listed on the World Heritage List. Enjoy the slideshow!
And our retrospective bucket list?
Basically, after we have done something that we are so glad we did or experienced something we considered AWESOME, we add it to this list. Anything can be added – either spontaneous, completely unexpected or planned. Bucket lists can sometimes take the spontaneity out of the experience so to combat that we have our retrospective bucket list.
We do have a list of things; “our travel wish list” that we want to see in this magnificent world and it would probably go on forever so we’ll just take it one step at a time and see what tickles our fancy at the time of planning a holiday. We are always open to suggestions!

Your fascination with UNESCO locations has made me aware of all the World Heritage Sites I’ve been lucky enough to visit over the years. There’s a lot more than I first thought. Thanks for that, Monkeys!

I cannot believe how similar we are. We too enjoying seeing World Heritage sites and I have that as a tag on my blog. I even looked up the list on the UNESCO website because I was going to print it and tick off all the ones we have been too, except there were nearly 1000 places. We’ve been to 28 I think, at last count. I really should print the list. We’re always excited when we come across a new one.

Thanks for dropping by! It’s really hard thinking of a true official bucket list so we thought we would start with this. Lately have read a lot of other people’s bucket list & have contemplated creating a “proper one” for ourselves… will see! 🙂
