weekend walks: vivid sydney

Posted on

And so another weekend is behind us! We chose an evening walk this week, especially with the weather being warm to say the least and with Vivid Sydney being on.

Vivid Sydney is a display of lights around the city (see the Vivid Sydney website for more info: http://www.vividsydney.com)

We would say the biggest drawcard is the light art on the Opera House. We could just stand there and watch it all night 🙂 But we didn’t,  we walked around the Rocks for about 2 hours, soaking up the atmosphere and taking photos (if we had thought to bring a tripod, the photo quality may have been better).

weekly photo challenge: twist

Posted on Updated on

Krista got our attention with the ‘twist’ on our favourite three wise monkeys!

This is our entry for the challenge this week.

It can be found at the United Nations Building in New York – a gun barrel twisted into a knot.

weekly photo challenge: work of art

Posted on

Speak no evil, Hear no evil and particularly for this challenge: see no evil! Because everything can be seen as a work of art!

Why do we collect the 3 wise monkeys? One of the main reasons is that we like to see the different interpretations and techniques used to create the little statues. Some of the statues are so cleverly formed that they almost have personalities of their own. To be able to create that is a work of art 🙂

Our latest 3 wise monkeys purchase was from our long weekend in Port Macquarie at the beginning of the year. Purchased from a Fair Trade shop, these pottery monkeys were made  South Africa. The colours, the facial expressions, the style: they are so unique. They have to be one of our favourites from our collection.

Have a great weekend, everyone!!

weekly photo challenge: on the move

Our choice for this week’s theme are two photos we snapped while visiting the Galapagos Islands.

These birds were peacefully perched upon this rusty boat and suddenly were “on the move”

What disturbed them?
